The Massachusetts Scholastic Clay Target Program (MassSCTP) is the state chapter of the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP). The SCTP has over 23,000 youth athletes in 43 states who compete in squads in the sports of trap, skeet and sporting clays. MassSCTP participation has doubled each year since 2004 and we anticipate record participation again this year.
MassSCTP provides students in grades 12 and under with the opportunity to learn and showcase competitive shooting skills while earning state and national recognition. The program is designed to instill safe firearms handling, team commitment, academic accomplishment, responsibility, leadership, community service and teamwork in all its participants. Graduates of the program can go on to NCAA or even Olympic shooting programs. SCTP alumni Vincent Hancock and Corey Cogdell won gold in men's skeet and bronze in women's trap, respectively, at the 2008 Olympics. Numerous college scholarships are available, especially for female shooters.

Fund Raising Efforts
Our goal is to raise $14,000 to offset the cost of sending two squads to nationals.
50-inch Panasonic Plasma Screen Television Sweepstakes!
In 2009 we raffled of a big screen TV. The lucky winner was Arlene Nelson. Stay tuned for this year's big raffle.
MassSCTP "Shoot-A-Thon"
In early June, junior athletes from around the state will compete at the Massachusetts State Trap Shoot. This is a 200 target event. All SCTP shooters will be collecting pledge money on the targets they break. All proceeds will go towards the trip to SCTP Nationals in July. Contact Joe Colbert (number above) if you would like to pledge your support to a shooter or a team.
Chicken Barbecues
Come enjoy a picnic-style lunch for a reasonable price at any of our events. Our menu changes with each event and will never disappoint. Parents and volunteers are encouraged to bring food to contribute so we always have plenty of home cooking on the menu.
Competition Day Drawings
We will draw for various prizes at the end of each competition day. Past prizes have included cash (50/50 style), lobsters, shooting vests and glasses, and much more. Visit the MassSCTP tent on competition day to help us sell tickets. If you would like to donate an item, contact Joe Colbert.
